The Theme for September was "The Gingerbread man"
Pupils enjoyed sequencing the story and adding captions to the pictures. They acted out the story and made their own Gingerbread creatures with cardboard and toilet rolls. During science class they experimented with different materials to build a bridge for the Gingerbread man to cross over the river. Finally they had great fun baking and decorating Gingerbread men.

Autumn walk about
After our walk pupils recorded what they saw, heard, touched, smelled and tasted. They pressed the leaves they collected and made colourful crayon leaf rubbings. We planted acorns in our raised bed and collected and counted apple seeds.
Spiders kept Infants busy in October
Pupils sang along to Incy Wincy Spider and enjoyed the "Little Miss Muffet " nursery rhyme. They watched "The Very Busy Spider" on the white board and went on a spider web hunt. During art they printed spider shapes and seniors tied themselves up in knots weaving spider webs on paper plates. We investigated how many children were afraid of spiders and made a pictogram to display our findings.
Harry the Hedgehog made an appearance and children got to work making their own clay hedgehogs.
Maths week Activities
Infants counted, measured ,matched, hunted and played throughout maths week. The Middle and Senior classes paid us a visit, they collected data and led the Infants on a maths trail.
Touch Test Investigation
Children use the sense of touch to help them order containers according to temperature - freezing, cold, lukewarm and warm.

Show racism the red card
Pupils take part in an anti-racist educational workshop which aims to tackle racism and promote integration.
Later, on the 24th of November pupils participated in the Wear Red to School Day. Every child in Junior and Senior Infants also planted a yellow crocus as part of our action day. The yellow flowers recall the yellow stars of David that Jews were forced to wear. The children planted the flowers in memory of the 1.5 million children who perished in the holocaust. The crocus project raises awareness of the dangers of racism and the importance of tolerance and respect.
Pupils also participated in the anti-bullying week. They had great fun wearing ODD SOCKS to school and enjoyed the opportunity to express themselves and appreciate individuality and uniqueness.

Rain Rain Go Away-Come Again Another Day
It has been a very wet winter- rain, floods and storms. The class investigate how rain is formed. Pupils make a rain cloud in a bag - they put damp soil in a sealed plastic bag, place it on a window sill and wait for the rain to fall
Is there a Doctor in the house ? Aistear theme - "The Doctor's surgery"
- Pupils examine patients, administer medicine and even perform an amputation or two. They write prescriptions, absent notes and accident report forms. They label body parts and assemble toilet roll skeletons.

Easter Holidays are here-Pupils go on an Easter Egg Hunt. They receive awards for seachtain na Gaeilge and hatch their baby chicks
Easter holidays are over and the Incredible Edibles Pack arrives in the post.
Infants plant potatoes, strawberries and turnips. They are placed on the window sill for a few weeks before being replanted outside in the raised bed. They record plant growth and change and learn how to look after plants.
FOOD DUDES ARE COOL DUDES
Burgess participates in the successful healthy eating programme "FOOD DUDES". Children are encouraged to taste a variety of fruit and vegetables over six weeks. Their taste buds become familiar with the different tastes and they slowly become less resistant to eating these fruit and vegetables. They watch Food Dude videos and receive stickers, prizes and certificates for their achievements.
RK Sports are a big hit with all the pupils
Pupils have fun learning gymnastics, hockey, volleyball, basketball, softball, tag rugby etc. etc. etc.
