THE ESB WELCOMES NEW RECRUITS
- Infants take part in the ESB Stay Safe Stay Clear Educational Programme
They complete six lesson plans that involve worksheets, colouring activities and online resources. John Slattery drops in for a question and answer session and is Shocked !!! by all the Bright Sparks!!! he meets.
Sense of SMELL
Infants explore their sense of smell- they try to match different perfume fragrances
Chanel is a big hit with everyone!
Pupils then make paper flowers with fragrant pompoms in the centre

Pet Day in school
The Bronze Age returns to Burgess
Pupils work with artist Lian Callaghan. They cord grass into ropes and spin sheep's wool. They explore primitive toys from the Bronze Age. Lian helps them to bend willow into hoops and construct rag dolls out of straw. They assemble different materials together to make clothes similar to those worn in the Bronze Age.

Maths week in the Infant room
The Séamus ó Riain cup comes to Burgess.
Past pupils: Pat Woods, Stephen Murray and Donagh Maher accompany the cup into the school. Donagh gives an inspirational talk to the pupils emphasising the need for commitment and hard work to succeed in sport, school and life in general.

Each pupil created and named their own imaginary planet
Anthony Garvey, children's author, gave a book reading for pupils from Infants to Second Class.
He gave them an insight into the world of fiction, explaining the importance of descritptive language and suspense.

Infants participated in the Carol Service in Ballywilliam church to raise money for Focus Ireland, which realised a total of €500
A new pupil enrolled in Infants in December creating Mayhem!
Our elf on the shelf wore MS Costello's glasses and tracksuit top. He ate some of our advent calendar chocolates, switched lids of the white board and permanent markers and coloured in some of the Christmas annuals! Dear, oh dear, oh dear!

Street Smart- RSA Programme for schools
Pupils have great fun learning how to be safe on the road. They interact with a make believe townscape - crossing roads, using Zebra crossings and driving vehicles. At the end of the session Infants receive their Safety Licence.
