We are so grateful to Laura for giving us a master class about the Harp
Infants learned some interesting facts about the harp. Laura's harp is made from Rosewood and has wire and gut strings. The Harp is a musical instrument with origins in Asia and Egypt. The most famous Irish Harp is the Brian Boru harp which has been displayed in Trinity College for over 200 years. Turlough Carolan is our most famous harpist. "Cláirseach" is the Irish name for a harp. The harp is an important Irish symbol and is pictured on Irish coinage.
Junior Infants - Shamrock Collage
Senior Infants - Celtic Knot Shamrock
Run around Europe
Infants chose London as their target destination in this fun, active, health initiative. Everyday for four weeks pupils run for 10 minutes in the yard or in the hall. Every two laps is recorded as a km and the total distance covered is recorded at the end of each week.
To mark the last day of this special initiative and the success of each class reaching their targeted destination we had a Europe day celebration in the hall.
"London Calling"
Infants learned about the important sites and buildings in London. They tasted food associated with England - Jam tarts, Victoria sponge, Walker crisps, Sausage rolls, Shortbread biscuits etc.
