Oxidation Experimentation
Pupils experiment with different liquids to see which ones are best at stopping peeled apples going brown - water, lemon juice, milk, salt water, no liquid at all. They recorded their results and sang their oxidation song.
Colette brings St. Brigid to the classroom
Infants watch as Colette makes a St Brigid's cross with rushes. They learn that crosses have been placed in thatched roofs and calving sheds throughout the years for protection. They learn that St. Brigid is a patron saint of Ireland, the poor, babies and midwives. They learn about St. Brigid's life and listen to St. Brigid's Blessing.

We say Slán, Goodbye agus Au revoir to Enia
Enia is a french student who worked in our school for the past four weeks , she visited our classroom every day and assisted with all activities. She taught the children how to count to ten in french and they taught her how to count to ten in Irish. We hope she will visit us when she is back in Ireland again.

Day and Night
Pupils study the differences between night and day- the sky, light, animal life, work life, etc. They complete an art project on this theme for display
Pupils insert a disc containing a sun and moon which they turn to change night to day. Black netting is attached to the top of the picture that can be pulled down to change the sky to night.
Narrative Writing Genre
Infants Build A New Bridge for the Billy Goats Gruff !
Infants experiment with different materials to find out which materials are the most suitable - paper, cardboard, plastic, wood etc. They also work out how to make the bridge more stable so that the goats do not fall into the water ! SPLASH
Seniors go on a shape hunt around the school with our Transition Year Student Liam Grace. Photographs are taken on an i Pad which are then used to create a shapes powerpoint. Seniors enjoy teaching shapes to Juniors
Food Dudes - Lets Do It, Do It Dudes!
Well done to all the Infants - Each day they tasted vegetables and fruit and gave their taste buds a chance to become familiar with the new tastes.
Soccer Skills
James Scott from the FAI held a training session with the younger classes in the school. The pupils completed drills and played mini games. Everybody supported each other, making it a very positive, inclusive experience.

Burgess Infants have kept themselves very busy during the school closure. As well as continuing with their school work at home they have been very active and creative - Watch out for our : Computer whiz kids, Star bakers, Bob the builders, Stable hands, Calf whisperers, Archaeologists, Chicken Licken enthusiasts, Rally drivers, Tree house natives, Writers, Early risers, Happy campers, Tractor drivers, Mummy's little helpers and a big Thank You to all Ms Costello's Big Helpers, all the Mums and Dads who have made such a huge effort with their children's school work.
