Inclusion Week in School
We have a very exciting week planned beginning next Monday November 21st called Inclusion Week. What makes our world so special is that we are all unique and different with no two people the same. What a grey and boring world we would live in if we all looked the same thought the same and felt the same.
We are all faced with many challenges that life throws at us and we have to learn to face those challenges and not let them define us. Some people face huge challenges on a daily basis. Some challenges are visible to the rest of the world- others are invisible.
We will have some inspirational speakers coming to visit our school next week who have had to face significant challenges in their lives but they persevered to overcome them and went on to achieve great success. First up is Jonathon Mc Grath on Monday who will tell us about his journey to represent Ireland on the National , European and World Stage in swimming.
On Tuesday Para Rower Katie O' Brien will join us. Katie will tell us about her journey to great success representing Ireland in rowing competitions all over the world and her aspirations to win a gold at the 2024 paralympics.
We will be learning lots over the week and on Friday we will hold an 'Odd Socks Day'. This reminds us that it is okay to be different, it is cool to be different and your odd socks will do the very same job as a pair of matched socks.
We are all different and we all belong.
We hope that this week will inspire our pupils to not only make a difference to the world we live in but to be the difference that makes for a more inclusive society with benefits for all of us.

Green School News
The sapling for this year's campaign is the Holly / Cuileann
Holly is easily recognised by its glossy, stiff, shiny leaves which are dark green in colour above and paler underneath. The cluster of bright red berries of the holly tree is a great source of food for birds during the cold, frosty winters when food is scarce. Holly is very common throughout Ireland with many place names called after it.
